The feeling of hypocrisy and guilt
is stagg’ring loss of former flaunted strength
that has all but broken since it was built
and slid through groping hands at greatest length
and fallen onto scales of self contempt,
that when self measured do reveal that fault
completely—rightly will not circumvent
a conscience ever worth its weight in salt
yet heavy as gold and dull as rust,
cracked and ripped, lacking all self trust;
the torrent strengthens fueled by self disgust
it beats and burns then with a fatal thrust

it kills.

All things emerge from darkness into light,
then fade once more, for day precedes the night.

  1. Excellent piece, as a fellow writer, I can't wait to see more (and fyi, buy the Scott Pilgrim game, it's worth it).

  4. You're good man, seriously. Keep writing. Not enough people writing quality lyric poetry. I know. I'm one of them. But I have a comedy blog, check it out if you get a chance.
